Festival of Mosman: Top 5 Events

Festival of Mosman is set to take over the LGA for 10 jam-packed days in October, with music, art, food and cultural events for all. 

Here are our top five picks locals should be sure not to miss.

Balmoral Beats and the Festival Opening Concert

Balmoral 

This year’s festival will kick off with two major free music at Balmoral Beach. The afternoon will start at the southern end of the beach with Balmoral Beats. Snag a complimentary sausage sizzle at the community barbecue before taking in the sounds of acoustic music performances presented by Mosman Youth. In the evening, head over to Balmoral Reserve for a twilight concert featuring jazz vocalist Emma Pask with Mosman Music Club and Mosman Musical Society.

Hunter Valley Uncorked Balmoral

Wine lovers rejoice! Balmoral’s beloved Hunter Valley Uncorked is returning as part of this year’s community festival. Wander through stalls serving delicious gourmet cuisine from Mosman’s best local restaurants and producers, while sipping from a glass of one of the Hunter Valley’s finest drops. Take a seat, soak up the sunshine and listen to the sounds of live music acts. Entry is free, with tasting packages available from $26 to $31 per person.

Several events and exhibitions will local artists and artworks. Come along to Mosman Art Gallery from 10am – 5pm throughout the festival to see the 2019 Mosman Art Prize exhibit. Consisting of the 88 finalists chosen from this year’s 670 entries, this diverse collection encompasses a range of media and art styles. For those wishing to learn more about Australia’s most prestigious local art prize, there will be a guided tour on 20 October between 2pm and 3pm, hosted by Mosman Art gallery guides. There is also a public art program running over the festival’s 10 days, with Mosman’s streets set to come alive with pop-up sculptures, installations and performances. Experience this art along with the statues, monuments and fountains through a special walking tour with a Mosman Gallery guide on 24 October from 10.30am – 11.30am. OctoberFeast Night Market

Experience a magical evening with family and friends, browsing beautifully crafted artisan goods and tasting an array of gourmet food, wine and beer amid glistening fairy lights. There will be live busking entertainment, as well as face painting for the kids.

Pet’s Day Out 
27 October
10.00am – 2.00pm 
Mosman Square and Village Green 

Cherished pets, their ‘humans’ and animal lovers alike are invited for a paw-some day of fun! Celebrity vet Dr Katrina Warren will be there presenting her Wonderdogs show, along with the Taronga Zoomobile, Australian Wildlife, displays by Mosman Vet and performances by Dancing Dogs R Us. Bark Busters will be hosting a walking obedience masterclass, while Rancan Sisters Fitness will run a ‘doga’ workshop. There will be plenty of prizes to win, with competitions including best trick, cutest pet, and an egg and spoon race.
