War Vets Narrabeen are looking for volunteers to spend time socialising with the elderly residents of its aged care facilities. Volunteers are required for one hour either once a week or fortnight, and will spend time talking, reading, playing games, sitting in the garden and/or having coffee with the residents. A current driver’s licence is preferable, as you may be required to drive a resident to a local appointment. Monika’s Doggie Rescue in Ingleside is urgently seeking willing volunteers to help with preparing food and feeding the animals or providing customer service. Feeding time is from 8.30am for a couple of hours, while customer service volunteers would work either 10am-1pm or 1pm-4.30pm. Those working in customer service will be required to welcome the dog walkers, answer phone enquiries and liaise with people interested in adopting or fostering dogs or cats. Teach older gentleman to cook

Calling all passionate amateur cooks or professionals with a few hours to spare! This not-for-profit is on the lookout for volunteers to help teach older men basic cooking skills in a friendly and welcoming environment. You will be required to run a regular cooking session once a month on the second Wednesday of the month, with up to 10 men from the local community. Volunteers will mentor these men through preparing a two-course meal with ingredients they have purchased in advance. Help organise social outings for over 65s

MWP is searching for volunteers to accompany over 65-year-old clients on social bus trips to outings, such as galleries and shows. You will assist the bus driver to ensure the welfare, comfort and safety of all clients is upheld, and offer companionship and support. Volunteers will be required Thursdays between 8.30am-4pm, with training provided on the job. Lunch costs will be reimbursed up to $15 per outing. If you love our bushland and/or are a fan of the iconic show Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, head to Waratah Park on 20 October and help restore the native landscape. Volunteers can come along any time between 9am and 1pm and meet the group near the Rangers Headquarters, 13 Namba Road, Duffys Forest.
